Bus Stop Cafe

Ideally located at the Lakeside Reserve in Mangakino, the Bus Stop Cafe is a unique converted 1972 Bedford bus with stunning views across Lake Maraetai. Serving fabulous coffee and traditional cafe food the Bus Stop Cafe is a great destination for a day out or a few days camping. The lakefront reserve is well suited for families with a wide expanse of grass and children’s’ swings and slides and a coin operated BBQ.

Information about activities, accommodation, the town and lake is on hand and proprietor Garry Gradwell is always happy to help with local knowledge. Since being established by Garry in 2006 the cafes reputation has spread far and wide being featured in TV shows, North and South magazine and included in the AA’s list of “101 Great Days Out in NZ”. The Bus Stop Cafe serves customers from all over the world, many of whom return time & again to enjoy the laid back atmosphere, spectacular lake, great fishing, kayaking, safe swimming, world class wakeboarding conditions and coaching, free camping and friendly welcome.
